Meatball Pastries


Ingredients

  • ½: Kg Beef mince
  • ½: Kg Pork mince
  • 1: Egg
  • ¼: Cup breadcrumbs
  • 1: Teaspoon fresh thyme
  • 1: Teaspoon fresh oregano
  • ½: Teaspoon fresh mint
  • 1: Small onion grated
  • 1: Tablespoon garlic
  • 2: Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1: Teaspoon tomato paste
  • ½: Cup flour
  • 1: Medium carrot
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2: 400g shop bought pastry
  • 2: Tablespoons milk

Steps

  • Step 1

    Place the beef & pork mince in a bowl.

  • Step 2

    Mix in the egg, breadcrumbs, thyme, oregano, mint, grated onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, salt and pepper; mix well, cover and set aside for 30min to marinate.

  • Step 3

    Roll out the pastry sheets, dusting with flour so that they do not stick to the surface.

  • Step 4

    Set the oven to 180 degrees.

  • Step 5

    To make the meatballs, apportion using a tablespoon, then brown in a pan. Allow to cool for 2 min

  • Step 6

    Grate the carrot and put about a teaspoon in the center of the pastry square, then position the meatball on top of the carrot.

  • Step 7

    Cover the meatballs with pastry by joining the pastry corners and then place on a baking tray.

  • Step 8

    Brush each ball with milk and bake for 20min or until the pastry turns golden brown.

  • Step 9

    leave for 5 to 10min to cool before serving.
